Summary

Dr. Zhiwei LIAN is full Professor in the Institute of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He was promoted to Associate Professor in Dec. 1994, and then to full Professor in Dec. 1998. He worked as visiting Professor in the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) in 2003; as senior visiting Scholar in the CEEE at the University of Maryland (UMD) in 2004, and as visiting Professor in ICIEE at Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in 2007.

Prof. Lian is teaching university students in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning. He is the supervisor for 50 Master of Science students, 18 Ph.D students and 1 Postdoctoral student. He has carried out research in the field of heat-and-mass transfer, human response to indoor environment (health, comfort and productivity), air distribution in buildings, improvements of indoor air quality, energy saving in buildings, and application of heat pump. Measuring instruments have been developed based on the research. He is the member of several professional societies, technical and standardization committees. He has conducted many projects, including 7 projects sponsored by National Natural Sciences Foundation of China (NSFC). He has published more than 150 academic papers, half of which are accepted by international journals. Prof. Lian has also written 5 academic books, one of which was supported by the specialized publication foundation of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He is the owner 22 national invention patents. He served as section chairmen for more than 15 international conferences, such as INDOOR AIR’2008 held in Denmark. He is also the specially invited reviewer of many international journals, such as Indoor Air, HVAC&R Research, International Journal of Refrigeration, etc. He has received numerous awards from the provincial governments for this work.
